Super CMOY project prices for PC boards and parts
The Super CMOY is a mint-tin headphone amplifier. The Super CMOY has all through-hole parts for easy soldering, with the exception of the OPA1688 chip itself which is a SOIC-8 surface mount and the TPS3701 comparator chip. The surface mount TPS3701 for the battery power management circuit (much smaller than the OPA1688) is on a DIP-6 adapter board to make it through-hole also..
Sorry but no parts kits for sale due to the chances of getting a bad part and having to re-ship, plus the time and cost involved in bagging up everything and labeling it. You get your money’s worth from Mouser and Digikey! Everything labeled, static sensitive parts are in proper anti-static bags, and (at least in the US) Mouser is good about sending out replacements for defective parts for free. The BOM with all the part numbers is posted at the project Google Drive link in post #1 of the project thread, with part numbers at Mouser and Digikey Electronics, plus a few at Allied Electronics and the Farnell UK site. If you find a BOM part is out of stock at the distributors, please let me know. I can probably help you locate an alternate part number.
There are now two versions of the Super CMOY. A single-chip V4.1 and dual-chip parallel V1.2 with twice the current output. The various project materials (schematic, layout, BOM, build instructions, etc) at the Google Drive link in the first post of the project thread include both the single chip and parallel versions of the Super CMOY. Essentially the parallel version adds the extra OPA1688 chip, four 1 ohm balancing resistors, and two more 0.1uF decoupling capacitors for that 2nd chip. A lot of the resistors on the Parallel Super CMOY are end-mounted to make space for the second chip. You still need the same TPS3701 adaptor board with the Parallel Super CMOY.
Shipping is actual cost, which for US destinations (for all except the fully assembled Super CMOY boards) is the USPS "first class parcel" rate of $2.60 ($2.45 from the post office + $0.15 for the padded envelope) and does include tracking. The post office says 3-5 business days on average to deliver "first class parcels" (goes by truck), but from my experience expect 5-10 business days.
For the fully assembled Super CMOY PC board (either single or dual-chip) the shipping to US destinations is via the USPS "priority mail small flat rate box" service which they charge $6.80 for, and includes tracking and postal insurance. The priority mail also gets there pretty reliably in 2 or 3 days (goes by air). The rigid box protects the fully assembled board and the postal insurance covers it in case they loose the package.
For destinations outside the US our post office here unfortunately is rather pricey. Their lowest rate is "first class international small package", which they say typically takes 10-14 days, for $9.50 to Canada and $13.50 to the rest of the world. The customs form number will actually work as tracking, just enter it in at the USPS.com website tracking page, but the tracking usually stops when the package leaves the US. The "first class international small package" rate is OK for bare boards, but for assembled amps that are thicker their next step up may be required, depending up the country, which is "first class international medium package" for $22.50 up to a certain weight and size. That one does include tracking to some countries. Again these are actual cost, no markup, and should be listed out at usps.com. Sorry but I have to declare the full value of the invoice on the customs form. Some countries charge (fairly large!) taxes on incoming shipments, so please check into your country's rules to avoid a surprise.
Payment via paypal, please contact me for the paypal address. The paypal fee also has to be added to the order, 2.9% of the total + $0.50 for orders in the US, 3.9% + $0.60 for outside of the US. When you send the paypal send it as "payment for mechandise" so I pay the fee, not as "gift" which would charge you the fee. I can also make refunds if you send it as "payment for mechandise" but I can't if sent as a gift. Please make sure you are having paypal transfer the money into US dollars. I only accept paypal, sorry no checks or other payment methods.
Example 1: Super CMOY bare single-chip PCB V4.1 + fully assembled TPS3701 adapter board, shipping to the US = $9.00 + $10.00 + $2.60
(US ffirst class parcel shipping) + $1.13 (US paypal fee 2.9% + $0.50) = $22.73.
Example 2: Super CMOY bare dual-chip PCB V1.2 + fully assembled TPS3701 adapter board, shipping to the UK = $9.00 + $10.00 + $13.50 (intl shipping) + $1.89 (international paypal fee 3.9% + $0.60) = $34.39. Please make sure to specify for paypal to deliver the payment in US dollars.
Example 3: Fully assembled and tested single-chip V4.1 Super CMOY PC board shipping to the US = $79 + $2 (short knob) + $6.80 (US "priority mail small box flat rate" + $3.05 (US paypal fee 2.9% + $0.50) = $90.85..
